Orlan (Saint-Etienne, 1947). Multidisciplinary artist. Orlan experiments with techniques such as photography, video, sculpture, drawing, installation, performance and biotechnology. She was one of the first artists to use surgery as an artistic medium. Her projects explore the states of the body through the religious, political and cultural pressures. Thus, Orlan shows the mark left by this weight in meat, particularly in women flesh.
Her work shows a strong commitment to feminism and freedom. Likewise, she defends hybridization and human rights through nomadic and mutant identities.
